Global emissions of carbon dioxide drop 1.3%, say international scientists

International scientists of the Global Carbon Project say the global emissions of carbon dioxide dropped by 1.3% in 2009 compared with the previous year. They say this is largely due to the economic crisis and a overall fall in GDP. Despite the 1.3% drop, the global emissions of carbon dioxide were the second highest in human history. The emissions dropped by the largest amounts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Russia, because the economic crisis mainly affected developed nations. In the emerging markets like China and India were big increases of emissions.

Reaction
I think the developed countries are not the problem anymore when it comes to emissions of carbon dioxide, because these countries try to reduce their emissions by investing in sustainable development. The real problem are countries like China and India who grow so rapidly that they do not care about how much their emissions increase. They just chase economic development, and they think they have the 'right' to do so, because developed countries did the same in the past.
